Our Parishes

Downside Abbey’s local parish is based at St Benedict’s Church, Stratton-on-the-Fosse. The church was built to the designs of Charles Hansom and completed in 1857. 

The parish is served by monks from Downside who say Mass and hear confessions as well as conducting parish pastoral work.

The parish is open for private prayer: 10 a.m. – 11a.m. and 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. every weekday, and 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Saturday [St Benedict’s]

The Holy Ghost is open for private prayer: 9 a.m. – 11a.m. on Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 11a.m. on Friday, and 9a.m. – 10 a.m. on Saturday.
