Downside Abbey Festival 2026

Join us this Summer for four days of concerts from 16-19 July at the Basilica of St Gregory the Great.

We are pleased to be hosting a series of concerts this Summer in the magnificent setting of our Basilica. Artists include David Bednall and the Bristol Brass Consort, the Choir of St Mary’s, Wimbledon and the Tenebrae Associate Artists.

The highlight of the four-day festival will be a ‘Come and Sing’, directed by the internationally famous composer and conductor, Sir John Rutter.

Tours of the Abbey Church will take place and there will be an opportunity to see our new exhibition ‘Everyday Lives’ curated by our staff.

Abbot Nicholas Wetz will preside at Pontifical Sung Mass, accompanied by the Choir of St Mary’s, Wimbledon. The Mass will be for four voices by William Byrd with motets by Palestrina and Fauré.
