Heritage Open Days
13 Sep 2026
Downside Abbey will be taking part in the Heritage Open Days events, this September.
The full timings and details can be downloaded here.
We’re also excited to be able to share with you our new exhibition, ‘Everyday Lives‘, curated by Downside Abbey’s staff and volunteers. The exhibition, in the Middle Sacristy, celebrates the work, over 150 years, of the Abbey’s staff, with material reproduced from the Special Collections.
A recital by Nigel Kerry will take place, in the basilica (1230-1315). Nigel is the Director of Music at Our Lady and the English Martyrs in Cambridge.
Our grounds team will provide a tour of the private Monastic Gardens (1145 and 1445).
Tea and coffee will be served in the Visitor Centre, throughout the day (1000-1600).
We look forward to welcoming you to Downside Abbey, and sharing our heritage and history with you.
