Bevan Family Concert at Downside Abbey

19 September 2025, [6-7.30 p.m.]

Downside Abbey is pleased to welcome the Bevan Family Consort for an evening of sacred choral music in our Basilica.

By kind permission of the Abbot and Community of St Gregory the Great, the Bevan Family Consort will gather to celebrate the work of some of the finest Catholic composers of early modern Europe including Palestrina’s Sicut servus and Agnus Dei (c. 1525-94), Byrd’s, Tribulatio proxima est (c. 1540-1623) and Giovanni Croce’s, In spiritu humilitatis (c. 1557-1609).

The evening will also include works by the Bevan Family itself including David Bevan’s, Magnificat septimi toni (1951-2001) and Tallis’s Glory to Thee (Tallis Canon) arranged by Bevan.

All proceeds go towards the Bevan Chorister Award and supports the Bevan Choral Scholarship, which helps fund pupils from Downside School.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or online.
