After COVID our Archives and Library Volunteer Team are back!

After two years of the pandemic, Downside Abbey’s Archives and Library, welcomed the return of our volunteers. Their enthusiasm to help continue the work of the monastic community and the National Lottery Heritage Fund in preserving the abbey’s great library and archives continues to inspire. We are proud to have a team of over 20 volunteers who help the Heritage staff here to make our archives and library more open to the public and to the academic community. COVID has landed a substantial blow to the Heritage sector and, in particular, to archives and libraries like ours, which rely on people to be able to travel … often from abroad, to use our unique collections.
