Thank you for visiting our careers page to find out more about working at Downside Abbey. Downside Abbey is a Roman Catholic monastery and is home to a community of Benedictine monks. It is the senior Benedictine monastery of the English Benedictine Congregation. Originally founded in Douai, in 1606, the community of St Gregory the Great settled at Downside in 1814. Downside Abbey Church, one of only three Minor Basilicas in England, has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade 1 listed building.
