Spiritual Exercises Retreat
06 Feb 2017
Last weekend, a series of monthly day retreats, based on the spirituality of St Ignatius (founder of the Jesuits) and his ‘Spiritual Exercises’, began at Downside.
The sessions are designed to help people meditate by using their imagination, and are focused mainly on the story of Jesus presented in the Gospels. The series is facilitated by trained Ignatian Spiritual Director and Australian Protestant Minister, Guy Yeomans.
Lectio Divina and the Spiritual Exercises are not the same, but they do complement each other. Those who have engaged in Lectio Divina will find it most helpful in undertaking this series on the Spiritual Exercises.
Future sessions will take place at Downside Abbey Visitor Centre from 9.30am -4.30pm on Saturdays 18th February, 25th March, 29th April, and 20th May. Tickets are based on a suggested donation of £10 per day. Tea and coffee will be available but visitors are asked to bring a packed lunch.
