SOMERSET CHURCH LEADERS AT DOWNSIDE

Downside Abbey sees a variety of individuals and groups coming to stay in its guest wing for retreats. This weekend we were pleased to welcome once again the Somerset Church Leaders for their annual retreat, led by Susan Durber, a minister of the United Reformed Church who is also Moderator of the World Council of Churches’ Commission on Faith and Order.

The Somerset Church Leaders were heads of the Anglican, Methodist and Baptist churches, as well as the Salvation Army and our own Bishop Declan Lang, of Clifton. They joined the monastic community for parts of the Divine Office and for meals, and much enjoyed the opportunity to relax and to pray at Downside.
