New Year’s Eve at Downside

31st December 2018 – 1st January 2019

Celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, and the Solemnity of Mary, Most Holy Mother of God with the Downside Community. There will be Mass at Midnight on 1st January and Adoration throughout the night.

We will be staying in Plunkett House on a self-catering basis. The cost for accommodation only is £20 per person. Everyone will be asked to donate towards the cost of the meal, and to bring some drinks and nibbles with them.

This is our programme:

31st December 2018

1600 Young Catholic Group start to arrive at Plunkett House where they will be staying overnight

1900 Young Catholic Group to have their NYE meal. They are staying on a self catering basis as the Caterers are on holiday.

2200 Young Catholic Group, Parishioners, and any other interested Catholics, to meet in Visitor Centre for drinks and nibbles.

2330 Mass to see the New Year in, to be held in the Crypt Chapel

After Mass, Perpetual Adoration in the Crypt Chapel 

1st January 2019

0930 Adoration to finish

1000 Mass “Mary, Mother of God” in the Abbey Church

1100 (or after Mass) Adoration to resume, and continue until 1800, provided that we have sufficient Adorers

1100 (or after Mass) refreshments in the Abbey Visitor Centre

1300 Lunch for Young Catholic Group in Plunkett House
