Description

In this lecture, Dr Giles Mercer KSG, former headmaster of Stonyhurst and Prior Park, will first set St Alphege’s life and death in the context of the Anglo-Saxon Church and society and then suggest the saint’s relevance to our time.

Alphege will be of particular interest to a Downside audience as a Benedictine monk and surely Bath’s most notable son, as abbot of Bath Abbey, bishop of Winchester and then archbishop of Canterbury.

Donations are welcome and refreshments will be available in the Abbey Visitor Centre.

Booking is essential by emailing Steven Parsons here or calling 01761 235323
