The February 2017 edition of the Mendip Times featured an article entitled ‘Abbey circle is full of surprises‘, by Sue Gearing. It showed a map, as well as giving detailed instructions of a local walk that starts and ends here at Downside. Not only was this walk popular at the time of publication but it continues to attact new walkers to Downside Abbey every week. They are keen to enjoy the beautiful local countryside as well as a visit to the Abbey Church, and more often than not, the Abbey Visitor Centre for a welcome cup of tea and slice of cake!
