It was great to welcome a group of nine seminarians with Fr Bruce Burbidge from Oscott College (the seminary near Birmingham) last week to Downside Abbey.

The visit was for the seminarians to prepare for their ordination to the diaconate (office of a deacon). They took part in the monastic Office and Mass, as well as having talks from their own Fr Bruce, and even managed to fit in a trip to Wells. They ate all their meals with the monastic community, and managed to keep up admirably, as monks are renowned for eating quickly!

We wish the seminarians well as they begin their diaconal ministry.
