NATURAL ENGLAND TALK

Downside Abbey was lucky enough to host a talk by Simon Clarke, manager of Somerset’s nature reserves for Natural England today.

The well attended event focused on the important work of Simon and his team in looking after our county’s incredible array of nature reserves. From coastal areas to one of the largest low lying wetlands in the country, Somerset has an abundance of natural assets which Simon is lucky enough to manage. 

Simon was also treated to a tour of the monastery gardens with Fr Leo where he could see the work going on to encourage our own nature. Much work is going on to encourage wild flowers which will help support our local Eco system and help the environment.
