MONASTIC EXPERIENCE RETREAT

This weekend we welcomed five men to the latest monastic retreat, looking at issues surrounding discernment and the nature of priesthood and religious life.

Whilst no retreat can offer certainty about the way forward, retreats at Downside can offer space, time and food in order to enable someone to escape from the daily round and give some extra time to thinking about the future.

This retreat offered two formal talks: one on discernment and ways to discern, and a second on the nature of priesthood and religious life as well as a Question and Answer session. The men who attended found it a useful weekend and all said that they had seen a way forward in their own process of discernment.
