HISTORY AND COMMUNITY EXHIBITION LAUNCH

Last night we were thrilled to be able to share in the launch of our collaborative online exhibition ‘History and Community’ with the University of Bristol.

Whilst the new exhibition was supposed to take place in our wonderful abbey church, due to Covid-19 the exhibition became virtual and thus so did the launch. Joined by over 80 attendees, Dr Ben Pohl, the project’s principle investigator launched the exhibition with a walkthrough of the new website.

Featuring twenty carefully curated and thematically diverse exhibits, the exhibition presents a vibrant panorama of the Downside community’s historical and cultural heritage. Heavily involved throughout Dr Pohl’s project, the monastic community also selected several items for the exhibition.

We would like to thank Dr Pohl and his team of researchers for their hard work and express how much we here at Downside have enjoyed working with them to put this exhibition together.
