HERITAGE OPEN DAYS
20 Sep 2019
Downside Abbey opened its doors this week as part of the annual Heritage Open Days, and it was a pleasure to welcome so many people!
With tours of the Grade I listed abbey church and monastery gardens as well as exhibitions of medieval vestments and archive and library material, there was plenty to see and do. We were also blessed with beautiful weather which allowed visitors to experience the monastery gardens in all their beauty.
As it was the first time the gardens had ever been opened to the public, there was a lot of interest and Fr Leo was inundated with visitors wanting to see them. After the tours, most people headed to the Abbey Visitor Centre for tea or coffee.
Thanks to everyone who came along, and we look forward to welcoming many of you back again in the future!
