Georgian Cookbook Launch

Earlier this week Downside officially launched it’s the latest publication, Downside Abbey Discovers: Bristol Georgian Cookbook

Leading up to the launch there has been a media frenzy with many national and local newspapers as well as local television and radio eager to cover the story of our cookbook. One recipe, in particular, chicken curry, has caught the imagination as being one of the earliest recorded curry recipes in the country.

The launch was a huge success and took place, appropriately, at No 1 Royal Crescent in Bath. This building is a wonderful recreation of a Georgian house and was a fitting location for the event. Guests were able to see the original cookbook as well as sample ‘jumbals’, which are biscuits included in the cookbook.

Everyone who attended commented on the quality of the work and promised to try some of the recipes. We look forward to hearing how they turned out!
