Professor Nozomu Ishii from Nagasaki Junshin Catholic University recently visited Downside Abbey Library as part of his research project on atlases, historical accounts and books related to Japan in the collections of British institutions. Besides early printed histories and personal accounts on Japan, our library holds a number of works that are of significant interest in the study of place-names as well as general accounts of life in Japan in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
