ECHA VISIT TO DOWNSIDE

The Downside Heritage team was pleased to welcome the English Catholic History Association to Downside this week to view our Voices from the Cloister exhibition. 

The ECHA encourages interest in the Catholic history of England and Wales and organises visits to places associated with the Catholic faith, such as Downside Abbey. A large group joined Dr Simon Johnson for a tour of the sacristy where they viewed many of our historical vestments and relics as well as the building itself. 

A tour of the neo Gothic Abbey Church followed before the group spent some time looking at the medieval manuscripts which form the core of our exhibition.
