The Downside Collection

The Downside Archives are a unique repository of the monks of Downside.

Personal papers of monks including Dom Ethelbert Horne, Abbot Christopher Butler, Dom Stephen Rawlinson, Abbot Edmund Ford and Dom Hugh Connolly are held here.

The archive also contains the history of the building of the Abbey Church and the day to day running of the monastery.  

The rich photographic archive charts Downside’s history from the advent of photography.
