The heritage team is excited to announce that we have started work on the listing of our archive collections on the National Archives Discovery site.

This important website lets anyone searching the National Archives for collections or items know where those things are and how to get in touch with that repository for access. This is a massive step forward for the Downside Abbey Archives as it puts us on the map for researchers who may very well never have known about the incredible depth and breadth of our collections.

Led by our volunteers, to whom we are greatly indebted for their hard work, this programme will take a very long time as we work through the hundreds of collections and millions of documents that will, eventually, all be listed on Discovery. While the project will take a great deal of time, we are excited to be able to take this first step as we listed our first items on the website earlier this week.
