Archive Collections: Wild Flowers

Every week here at Downside we find something in the archives which really emphasises the variety of the collections

This week we have found beautiful watercolour paintings of flowers created by Irish nuns from Wexford in 1897, to mark ‘the sixtieth anniversary of Queen Victoria’s reign.’ We are sharing here a few images out of the dozens we have, to illustrate the quality and detail of the work.

We chose to share the picture of daffodils to mark the coming of Spring as well as passion flowers as we approach Easter.
