Abseiling off the Abbey Tower

The final phase of the restoration of the Abbey Church is underway with the replacement of the Tower roof and new measures in place to take rainwater away from the stonework.

The scaffold is visible, climbing up the tower, for miles around.  A new copper roof covering has been installed and cleaning of the tower has been taking place by some brave individuals abseiling down the belfry.
