ABBEY CHURCH OPEN

The community of Downside is pleased to announce that from Monday 17th May the abbey church will again be open to visitors from 9.30am until 6pm. (Please be aware that Masses and services can take place throughout the day so the church may be inaccessible at these times.)

As per government guidelines and the easing of restrictions, the church can once again open outside of Mass times to anyone who may wish to visit the abbey. If you don’t know much about Downside abbey church then you can click here to find out more and what there is to see inside!

We are also now running guided tours of the building again through our partner Groupon. You can click here to book one of these tours which run on Monday afternoons and Tuesday mornings.

When visiting the church we do request that all visitors wear a mask, sanitise their hands on entry and exit, check in using the barcode in the entrance, refrain from touching items within the church and maintain social distancing at all times. But mainly we simply want visitors to be able to safely enjoy their visit to the building.

While visiting the abbey, our bookshop will also be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am-4pm where you can have a browse of our gifts, devotional items and cards. We will also be selling tea and coffee to takeaway on these days so pop in and get a drink while you are here.
